Alamo’s Statistical Process Control (SPC) workshop gives participants the tools and problem solving techniques to improve the quality and productivity of your organizations products and services. These tools and techniques give every team member of your organization the power to better manage and improve your work environment. This workshop is flexible and applicable to all standards including ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14000, QS-9000, TL 9000, and AS 9100.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the statistical concepts underpinning SPC
  • Understand the effects of variation on processes and be able to use that understanding to make sound decisions
  • Apply control charts in your organization
  • Effectively interpret the output of SPC methods and avoid misconceptions while identifying opportunities for process improvement

Outline

SPC is presented in four modules: Knowledge, Identification, Selection, and Measurement.

Knowledge – The foundation and driver of improvement. Steps include:

  • Know who is responsible
  • Be aware of limited resources
  • Know what action will provide the desired output

Identification – There are a number of different control charts each of which performs best for a particular kind of data. Steps include:

  • Learn the basics of Total Quality Management (TQM)
  • Apply the right control chart for each situation such as X bar R control charts, XmR control charts, C control charts, p control charts, np control charts, and u control charts

Selection – Learn how to use the control charts. Steps include:

  • Use and interpret control charts
  • Maintain and achieve world-class performance

Measurement – Speed the improvement through accurate selection of measurements. Steps include:

  • Bring focus to the major process steps for optimization
  • Use control charts to assure the gains are taken and not lost
  • Continue towards incremental improvement
Audience

SPC is appropriate for all levels of staff, from entry-level professionals to senior executives and support personnel. The program is most effective if small intact teams are available to work together on real world issues.

Delivery

SPC is a full 2-day, hands-on workshop that can be conducted by Alamo's own facilitators. Alamo's trainers have extensive background to make best use of the principles taught.
